Naming Conventions

Giving parts descriptive names help your fellow designers to quickly and efficiently find parts and avoid repeat efforts.

Onshape Parts​

Year_Subsystem_Partname

Example:

  • 4143-25-Robot-A
    • 4143-25-Intake_A_0000
      • 4143-25-Intake-P-0001
      • 4143-25-Intake-P-0002
      • 4143-25-Intake-P-0003
      • 4143-25-Intake-A-0100
        • 4143-25-Intake-P-0101

    • etc

*Sub-Assemblies can have their own names. Parts inside these subassemblies do not include the subassemblie's name.
